Dear Mr. Kishel:

On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation, I am expressing thanks for the

extraordinary efforts your construction team performed in replacing the 1-375 bridge that was

damaged as a result of an accident recently. Your leadership and around the clock dedication

resulted in the 1-375 bridge being reopened 25 days after the incident and nine days earlier than

projected. This service to the public cannot be recognized enough as expressed in the attached

letter from Mayor Rick Baker of St. Petersburg. Please ensure your entire construction team

receives my thanks. I would like to specifically mention Charles Humphries and John Meagher

for their efforts.

RE: Repairs to 1-375

Dear Don,

I would like to personally and on behalf of the citizens of St. Petersburg thank you

for the outstanding job the Florida Department of Transportation and its contractor have

done in the completion of the repairs to I-375.

On the night of March 28, 2007 when the accident occurred, we observed the fire

and damage to the I-375 ramp and surrounding area, and felt certain that we would be

without the benefit of this artery into our downtown area for sometime in the future. We

strongly supported your activities to complete the improvements as quickly as possible.

We are amazed at the quick handling that has occurred on these repairs and commend the

fine job the Florida Department of Transportation has done in executing the required

improvements. Again, thanks to you and your staff for the outstanding job they have

done in bringing this project to completion ahead of schedule and reopening the interstate

connection into our downtown area.
